While prepping the trim around the windows of my house for a fresh coat of paint, it occurred to me that becoming like Christ was like getting a new coat of paint. First He must scrap the old, loose, dry, crackly paint away before the new paint is applied; otherwise, the new won’t stick.
We all come to a place in our relationship with Jesus Christ where we must surrender in order to grow. I have been in the position of surrender many time in my life, and this blog is an attempt to offer hope and a sense of solidarity to those seeking Him for the first time, committing to Him for the first time, and returning to Him for the fiftieth time.
There will be pain in this journey of surrender, of this I am certain. Chipping away our old self so the new self, the one we find in Christ, can emerge is going to hurt. It will hurt our feelings. It will hurt our pride. However, in the end, when we emerge more like Christ and closer to Him, we will feel more satisfied, more confident, more joyful than we have ever felt before.
Transformation is a process. It does not happen overnight. Â Transformation is not easy, nor is it comfortable; however, He did promise us that He’d never leave us nor forsake us. Jesus loves us too much to leave us where we are.
Thanks for joining me on this journey of surrender.
